- Tooth decay
- Poor eyesight
- Skin conditions, inflammation and slow-healing wounds (ulcers)
- Anemia
- Poor immunity from bacteria and viruses
- High cholesterol
- Osteoporosis, brittle bones and frailty
- Obesity
- Cancer of the esophagus, stomach and bowel
- Low growth rates in children
